Transitional Kindergarten

We provide a transitional kindergarten environment for our 4- to 5-year-olds. They have a daily schedule that includes centers or activities for small groups including dramatic play, a book center, a block area, manipulative free art activities, and writing, math and science activities. The interest areas are structured to complement our theme for the week. There is also a time for outdoor play and circle activities. The primary focus of this curriculum is to develop foundational pre-academic skills for reading, math and writing, as well as to further develop cooperative interactions with adults and peers. This age group is being prepared to learn the skills to be successful in kindergarten.

Kindergarten

We offer a full day kindergarten program for children ages 4 ½ -5 ½, following the California State educational standards.  The curriculum includes Language Arts (Reading and Writing), Math, Science and Social Studies to prepare students to enter first grade in public school.  Before and after-school care, lunch and snacks will be provided, as well as dance and music classes.   The class size is limited to nine children (public school kindergarten typically has 18-25 students per class), so the students receive more personal instruction.

Private Versus Public

Most school districts now offer transitional kindergarten programs to help prepare young children for elementary school on the public school campus (grades kindergarten to fifth).  Private transitional kindergarten programs also provide the same preparation, with a smaller class size in an environment geared specifically for young children. There are many factors to consider when choosing a transitional kindergarten

program for your child.

 

All school districts also offer kindergarten classes, but many are only half-day programs (8:30 to 11:30 am).  We offer a full day (8:30 am to 3:30 pm) kindergarten program, which includes before and after school care.  This program is structured to prepare students to enter first grade with all of the academic and social skills necessary to meet or exceed grade level standards.
